Who doesn't love a man in uniform?

It was high time I learned a bit more about the sport my husband plays. I've taken my non-athletic "talents" to the beach a handful of times in an attempt to better understand volley, but only recently am I really starting to get it.

Andy was asked to play for "The Island of Misfit Toys Team" ST/Comp Quiksilver in UCI's International Volleyball Tournament this week. I've spent many a hour watching Andy, T. Wils and Cody Loe bust their butts against the Koreans, Brazilians and Chinese.

It's been so fun to see Andy play the last few days and I'm looking so forward to seeing more of it this upcoming season (knock on wood). A few pics from Monday's game...

Quik plays UCI this afternoon and has a final match tomorrow. Anyone care to take in a little semi-pro volleyball with me?

FCA Family Day at the Beach

Today, we had the pleasure of spending most of our morning and afternoon in CDM getting silly on the volleyball court with the FCA family. We are so, totally blessed to have such a loving, supportive and encouraging group of friends to hang out with - thanks God!

A peek into our wonderful day...

San Francisco / Slightly Stoopid

This past week, we decided to runaway from our life in limbo and headed north for the most beautiful city, San Francisco. We enjoyed dinners with family, wine with friends and exploring Northern California together.

In true "foodie" fashion, we had family dinner at the homestead in Berkeley on Wednesday night. Ray, Kieran, Gina, Dean and Tony were able to join us for Marty-ritas, homemade guacamole and a delicious Mexican-inspired dinner. Harry Winston had his pick of laps to lay on, per usual (Jon, you're still his #1 lap).

 Marty-ritas = hangover
We celebrated Harry's early "Gotcha" Day.
 Family.
 Ray got the meat sweats.
Marty served Grappa, Scotch and Limoncello.

Friday morning, Andy and I made the trek to Marin to hit up the Golden Gate lookout. It was a bit windier and cloudier than we would have liked, but the scenery was perfection.

I left my heart in San Francisco - typical.

We headed back down Saturday afternoon and that night, the LA crew headed down for the Rebelution/Slightly Stoopid concert in Orange County. We had a lovely little family dinner before heading the Verizon, where we enjoyed (not) watching highschoolers make-out, do drugs and light things on fire.

Another wonderful California weekend. While I can't complain, I'm still eagerly anticipating our next great adventure.

Simpler Times – Jalama Beach

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of sharing an amazing weekend with some incredible friends. Andy, Alejandro, Eric, Stacie and I headed up the coast to Jalama Beach, a state beach just north of Santa Barbara, for some R n’ R.

The weather was beautiful, the scenery was breathtaking, the campfires sparked great conversation and giggles and the company was perfection.

We played some Ladderball and Hearts, developed new and weird friendships with our fellow campsite comrades, drank Glenn Levitt and Simpler Times, made some seriously delicious grub and relaxed the weekend away. Koa and Harry enjoyed exploring their budding relationship with romantic runs walks on the beach and cuddles by the campfire.

The crew.

Super thankful to have such fun, adventurous and wonderful friends. Thanks for a great weekend, y'all! We're still not sure what's next for us as we look ahead to the coming volleyball season. Your positive thoughts and prayers are helping us get through the stress and have an optimistic feeling about this new adventure. Keep 'em comin'!
