We had the pleasure of welcoming our first guests to Switzerland on December 31st - Rochelle and Martin. After spending the Christmas holiday adventuring on our own, we were craving some serious family time.
After a quick pick-up at Zurich airport, we were off to Bern to ring in the new year. Having never traveled to Bern, despite it's uber close proximity to L-town, I quite enjoyed rain booting around with Andy'le, popping in and out of chocolate shops and falling in love with everything around town while the parentals napped off the jet lag.
Harry Winston didn't let the inclement weather crush his spirits and convinced us to bundle up and head out to bop around again later that evening. Though I don't seem to think a dog in a fleece pullover, winter jacket and boots is all that spectacular - okay fine, it's pretty stinkin' cute - the same cannot be said for the passersby who would double-take, turn around and ask to snap a picture of this fine fellow.
Once showered and dressed in our holiday best, we ventured across the bridge for our dinner reservation. This was the second time we'd spent New Year's Eve with my mom and Martin and I'm not sure I'd have it any other way. The food and wine was perfection but the company was even better. A mere four hours later, we stumbled out of the restaurant just in time to catch celebratory fireworks over the river.
On New Year's Day, we slowly made our way back to Lausanne, taking several pit-stops along the way.
And finally, we were home again and reunited with Evan. Of course we had to re-ring in 2012 with some champagne and a self-timer photo shoot.
This week is sure to hold many a more adventures as we continue to explore with Mom and Marty. We're so thankful they've taken the time to come over and are loving the chance to make unforgettable memories with them.

I love all of your pictures, so great. What camera are you using?
ReplyDeleteWe have the Canon Rebel T2i and love it although we still have a lot to learn! Definitely not using all the bells and whistles we could be :)
