there is a castle on a cloud

With almost a full day off, the Heins Four piled into the car and headed toward Neuschwanstein. It was cloudy and foggy most of the day. In fact, our first attempt at the castle view was laughable. You could hardly see your own hand in front of your face.

I don't have the best track record with this tourist attraction. During a visit in my younger years, our trip was dampened - literally - by pouring rain. We persevered but the view was medium. And our visit last "Spring" caught us in the middle of a late-March blizzard.

We noticed the fog starting to clear and knew we had to hustle back over to the outlook bridge if we were going to catch a view. We did. It was breathtaking. And I snapped the above photo (thank you, trusty iPhone). But less than 5 minutes later, the fog had returned and again, swallowed Neuschwanstein right up.

More updates in the coming days as we play catch up from the last week - promise!
